Frequently asked questions

How long does shipping take?

We offer one shipping method which is DHL Express Worldwide, this takes 3 days to arrive and is full trackable.

Additionally, all orders over US$90 / £65 / €75 are automatically upgraded to ship with DHL for free.

Please see the section "Shipping Information" on each listing for full details and additional guidance on our shipping, especially if your order is time sensitive.

How can I activate free express shipping?

All orders over US$90 with the standard shipping option are upgraded to DHL for free.

Please be sure to read the section "Shipping Information" on our listings for full details on transit times.

My shipment hasn't arrived, what can I do?

If your order shipped via standard post, there's a good chance your parcel is at your local post office if they happened to miss you while you were out.

For orders shipped via DHL, please contact DHL with your tracking number for an update on your delivery. If they are unable to help, please get in touch with us and we will contact DHL asking them to investigate on your behalf.

What does "Available in 3 weeks" mean?

You may see "Available in 3 weeks" next to a pack size – this means we are currently out of stock and are in the process of making a new batch of pieces. The 3 week lead time could actually be shorter as we may actually be in the final stages of a new batch which could end up being ready in around 1-2 weeks or even less.

If your order is time sensitive and you need out of stock pieces urgently, drop us a line and we will provide you with an up-to-date time frame and do what we can to prioritise your order.

Do you sell wholesale?

For artists and creatives looking for higher quantities we recommend buying from our factory directly. The same range of paper is available on their website with discounts for larger quantities. You can browse the range there at:

https://sriaurobindopaper.com/order-online.

Is your paper suitable for calligraphy?

Yes, our paper is suitable for hand calligraphy by ink-artisans. Our internal sizing and finish provide a fine-tooth, making our paper texture nib-friendly. Guidance from artists familiar with our paper is provided in our guide for calligraphy on handmade paper on our website (http://indiancottonpaperco.com/guides/advice-for-calligraphy-on-handmade-cotton-paper).

Is your paper suitable for printing?

Yes, and we recommend using an inkjet printer if you are printing on our paper at home. Most modern printers will have an envelope setting which tells the printer to expect the paper to be fed in manually. Only feed a few sheets into the printer at a time or even individually if you need to.

Due to the handmade nature of our paper each piece won't be perfectly straight so we advise printing 5-10% more pieces than you need to in order to ensure you can test your alignment and feeding.

How thick is your paper?

If you're unfamiliar with paper weights a good way to compare is with normal printer paper which you may have at home. Normal printer paper is around 60gsm, so our 150gsm paper is just over twice as thick – we recommend taking 2 sheets of printer paper and feeling the thickness between your fingers. Our 210gsm paper is just over 3 sheets of printer paper.

We hope that helps with your selection. It might be difficult to choose, but regardless of what you decide our pieces will look and feel luxurious and timeless.

Is your paper suitable for letterpress?

Yes, and for best results we recommend our thicker grade of 210gsm pieces for letterpress and foil press.

Why do your sizes, weights, and colours vary between pieces?

There are some differences in our pieces due to the traditional hand paper-making techniques used to make our paper.

There can be a variation in size, weight (±10%), and even colour shade between individual pieces due to a number of factors, such as the consistency of the pulp when lifting each sheet, the felts we use on a particular batch, the pressure used when pressing, and the humidity of the air when the pieces dry. Each factor causes slight variance in its own way.

While we do try to control these factors, there will still be variation in the finished pieces which has been known to cause problems for very traditional print-makers who are new to handmade paper. As such, all sizes, weights, and colours are approximate.
